Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign Raises $134,518.74 for Barrie Charities Amid
Rising Community Need
Barrie, ON – December 11, 2025 – The Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie Campaign once again
demonstrated the power of community generosity, raising an impressive $134,518.74 in Barrie
during this year’s week-long initiative. From November 17–23, Tim Hortons guests supported
local charities by purchasing Holiday Smile Cookies, with 100% of proceeds directed to local
charities. Barrie Food Bank and Tim Hortons Foundation Camps each received $67,259.37.
At a time when food insecurity in Barrie continues to rise at an alarming rate, the contribution
is especially meaningful.
“We are profoundly grateful to the Barrie community and to our local Tim Hortons restaurant
owners and dedicated team members,” said Karen Shuh, Executive Director, Barrie Food Bank.
“This support arrives at a critical time. Demand for food assistance has never been higher, and
these funds will directly strengthen our ability to serve families, seniors, and individuals who
rely on us. The simple act of purchasing a cookie represents kindness in action and will have a
meaningful impact during a time of year when the need is unprecedented.”
The donation provides an important boost to Barrie Food Bank’s “Close The Gap” Holiday
Campaign, which is currently at 75% of its goal to raise $1,160,000 to keep pace with
community need. Last month, the food bank recorded 8,128 visits – a record high, 16% higher
than last year and triple pre-pandemic levels.
Funds received will play a critical role in addressing the growing issue of food insecurity in the
Barrie area. Shuh emphasized the urgency of the situation and noted that this donation
provides much-needed hope that the food bank will be able to continue to meet rising demand,
ensuring that local households continue to access fresh, nutritious food while helping sustain
expanding food recovery efforts.
Community support throughout the campaign was exceptional. Thousands of residents
purchased cookies, helping to raise funds that will stay local and directly benefit vulnerable
households. Their generosity made this year’s results possible.
