The benefits of donating securities directly to Barrie Food Bank include:
Reduced Taxes: when you donate securities directly to a charity, any capital gains triggered by the gift are exempt from taxation.

Opportunities sometimes arise to make a meaningful gift that is non-monetary in nature.
A gift-in-kind is a non-cash asset donated to an eligible charity for which an official donation tax receipt is available.
Common in-kind gifts are food, financial securities, real estate, art and valuables.
Please note that for a gift-in-kind receipt to be issued for the donation of food, a purchase receipt or invoice that includes date, food item, and purchase price, must be supplied.
A special non-refundable tax credit is available to farmers who donate agricultural products to eligible community food programs like Barrie Food Bank. Further information can be found here.
