Barrie Food Bank is a community organization. It is supported by community donors, for community neighbours.

Whether you’re giving through monthly donations, organizing a food drive, or planning for a gift in your will, it is donations from generous community members like you that provide the resources to help us feed those in need.

We accept cash, cheque, credit and debit at our 42 Anne St., South office.

Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm.

Only cheques are accepted by mail, payable to Barrie Food Bank.

Food Donations

Food Bank Barrie Sign

We accept food donations in person at 42 Anne Street South, Unit 2, located behind Pioneer Pools.

From Army Navy Air Force Drive, follow the donations sign at the end of the street.

Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, 8.30am – 4.30pm Wednesdays and Thursdays 8:30am – 7:00pm.

Items can also be dropped off at local grocery stores including Zehrs, Loblaws, No Frills, Costco, Metro, Freshco, Food Basics, and the Wholesale Club.

For large donations (1/2 pallet or more) we can arrange pick-up. Please email james@barriefoodbank.org to arrange a collection day and time

How do I name Barrie Food Bank in my will?

To establish a legacy gift or bequest, your lawyer can include a similar clause to the following in your will:

Donating publicly traded stocks, bonds, and mutual funds is a tax smart way to maximize your giving.

The benefits of donating securities directly to Barrie Food Bank include:

Reduced Taxes: when you donate securities directly to a charity, any capital gains triggered by the gift are exempt from taxation.

Gifts-In-Kind

Opportunities sometimes arise to make a meaningful gift that is non-monetary in nature.

A gift-in-kind is a non-cash asset donated to an eligible charity for which an official donation tax receipt is available.

Common in-kind gifts are food, financial securities, real estate, art and valuables.

Please note that for a gift-in-kind receipt to be issued for the donation of food, a purchase receipt or invoice that includes date, food item, and purchase price, must be supplied.

A special non-refundable tax credit is available to farmers who donate agricultural products to eligible community food programs like Barrie Food Bank. Further information can be found here.

Making a gift in honour or in memory is a meaningful way to recognize a loved one, while helping to feed the community.

How do I make a memorial gift?

Online by clicking ‘Donate Today.’ Once you reach the donation page, you will see an option to ‘Please make this donation in honour or memory of.’

By visiting us at 42 Anne St., South, Barrie. Cash, cheque, credit card, and debit are accepted.

Will the family be notified?

Families often like to know who has made a gift in honour of their loved one so they can thank those donors.

Barrie Food Bank can share the names of memorial donors; however, our policy is to never share the gift amount. If you would prefer that your name and mailing address not be shared with a family, please mark your gift as anonymous at the time of giving.
