On April 2, 2012 the Easter Appeal will kick off for the Barrie Food Bank. A Hopping Hand is needed to help replenish the shelves for what we forsee will be a busy spring. Your food doations go to help the almost 22,000 families and individuals who use our services annually. Non perishable food donations can be dropped off at any Zehr's, Sobey's, Metro, No Frills, Foodland, The Price Chopper and Food Basics in Barrie. Donations can also be made at the Food Bank Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00pm and on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 12:00 noon.

Most needed food items would include powdered milk, baby food, can fruit and vegetables, can tuna and luncheon meats, various dry pastas, soups, peanut butter, jam, can stew and condiments such as mustard, ketchup and relish.

Our goal for the Easter appeal is 60,000 pounds of food, this will replenish our shelves and carry us through the spring and into the summer months.

Your support is greatly appreciated, please give generously.

The Barrie Food bank would like to extend a hearty Thank You to all who made our Christmas Food Drive a success. We and the thousands of people who need our services are extremely grateful. You helped us to exceed our goal and bring in 131,000 pounds of food.

We sincerely appreciate the people of Barrie and surrounding communities. The outstanding support of individuals, local businesses, grocery stores, students, teachers, churches, service organizations, sport teams, youth groups, and the local media outlets is highly commendable.

As the new Executive Director of the Barrie Food Bank for the past eight months, I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of generosity from the community. Because you have opened up your hearts, you are ensuring that fellow human beings who are in need are cared for. You make me feel proud to be apart of this community.

Thank you from the bottom of all our hearts. You have moved us closer to the vision of having   “A community where no one is hungry.”

Gratefully yours,
Peter Sundborg

The Christmas food drive has kicked off for another year.

The goal for the Barrie Food Bank this year is to raise 110,000 pounds of food. Food and Financial donations have been coming in quite well, at this point in the campaign we have raised over 40,000 pounds of food with more donations coming in daily. Many businesses, churches, schools, families and individuals have really stepped up to the plate this year to bring in more food and dollars than ever before. Thank you to all our friends and supporters.
